Steelhead Alley river conditions

Lake Erie tributaries in northeast Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania offer changing steelhead opportunities through fall, winter and spring. Steelhead Flow brings public USGS observations together so you can compare your rivers before heading out.

Read the trend, then assess the river

Flow in cubic feet per second describes how much water passes a station. Gauge height measures water level relative to that station’s datum. Neither measurement alone establishes clarity, fish activity or safe wading. Compare recent rainfall, rising or falling trends, and conditions where you plan to fish.

Our core directory covers Black, Chagrin, Rocky, Vermilion, Cuyahoga and Grand rivers, plus Conneaut, Elk and Walnut creeks. Elk Creek uses the Brandy Run tributary gauge as a reference, rather than a direct main-stem measurement. Camera and sensor availability vary by station.
